2023

04-29: Boya's invited spotlight article "Molecular information technology with DNA" is published in Trends in Biotechnology!
04-04: Our paper "Speed and Correctness Guarantees for Programmable Enthalpy-Neutral DNA Reactions" coauthored with Chris Thachuk and David Soloveichik is published on ACS Synthetic Biology!
01-01: Boya starts a new postdoc position at Caltech with Lulu Qian!

2022

11-06: Boya is awarded the three-year postdoctoral Helen Hay Whitney Foundation Fellowship starting April 2023!
09-08: Boya gives a talk at SynBYSS (SynBio Young Speaker Series) (YouTube).
08-08 ~ 08-12: Boya attends DNA 28 and gives an oral presentation at University of New Mexico.

Boya's paper "Parallel molecular computation on digital data stored in DNA" coauthored with Stella, Cameron, Andrew and David is accepted for Track B oral presentation at DNA 28!
05-10: Boya is selected as a 2022 DARPA riser to
 participate in the DARPA Forward Conference Series!
​03-27: Boya's abstract entitled "Parallel and in-memory computation with data stored in DNA" co-authored with Stella, Cameron, Andrew and David is accepted to present as a talk at the FNANO 2022 conference.

2021

09-14: Boya received the 2020 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad!
09-13 ~ 09-16: Boya attends the virtual DNA 27 held by University of Oxford.
02-10: Boya joins the
editorial team for the grassroots textbook The Art of Molecular Programming project.

2020

10-08: Boya is selected to participate in EECS Rising Stars 2020 hosted by University of California, Berkeley.
09-15: Boya presents two posters at DNA 26: "SIMD||DNA: Experimental validation and high-throughput readout" (PDF, 3-min recording) and "Cells, diffusion and geometry: programming patterns with leader election and signal comparison" (PDF).
09-14 ~ 09-17: Boya attends the virtual DNA 26 held by at University of Oxford.
09-02: Boya joins the Molpigs (
Molecular Programming Interest Group) team.
08-07: Boya has successfully defended her Ph.D thesis!
06-10: Boya is awarded the GHC Student Scholarship to attend the 2020 Virtual Grace Hopper Celebration!

04-08: The paper "DNA punch cards for storing data on native DNA sequences via enzymatic nicking" in which Boya participated is published on Nature Communications!

08-08: Our paper "SIMD||DNA: Single Instruction, Multiple Data Computation with DNA Strand Displacement Cascades" won the Best Student Paper Award! :D
08-05 ~ 08-09: Boya attends

06-21: Boya's abstract entitled "Boolean Circuits via Thermodynamic Binding Networks: From Theory to Test Tube" co-authored with Cameron and David is accepted to present as a poster at the DNA 25 conference. (poster, PDF)

2018

12-13: Boya's paper "Effective design principles for leakless strand displacement systems" coauthored with Chris Thachuk, Andrew Ellington, Erik Winfree and David Soloveichik is published on PNAS!
10-08 ~ 10-12: Boya attends DNA 24 at Shandong Normal University in Jinan, China.

09-19: Boya is awarded with the Student Travel Award to participate DNA 24.
​08-26: Boya's abstract entitled "Experimentally characterizing the design space of strand displacement translators with toehold-size clamps" co-authored with David 
is accepted to present as a poster at the DNA 24 conference. (poster, PDF)

2017

09-24 ~ 09-28: Boya attends DNA 23 and gives an oral presentation (slides) as a local student at the University of Texas at Austin.
05-16: Boya's paper "The design space of strand displacement cascades with toehold-size clamps"
co-authored with Chris Thachuk and David Soloveichik is accepted for oral presentation at DNA 23! :-)
Jan. 2017: Boya is readmitted by the bioECE track in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department in UT.  Exciting!!

2016

09-04 ~ 09-08: Boya attends DNA 22 at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich, Germany, which is fantastic!
07-16: Boya is awarded with the Student Travel Award to participate DNA 22.
07-02: Boya's abstract entitled "Characterizing Leakless Strand Displacement Systems" 
co-authored with Chris, Erik and David is accepted to present as a poster at the DNA 22 conference.
01-19: Boya is excited to be the TA for David's class EE 381V Programming with Molecules (Spring 2016).
01-15 ~ 01-18: Boya attends the MPP (Molecular Programming Project) Workshop in University of Washington.

2015

11-03: Boya is selected for the Proctor & Gamble poster competition.
08-17 ~ 08-25: Boya attends DNA 21 at Harvard.
07-28: Boya's abstract entitled "Characterizing 'Leakless Strand Displacement' with Double Long Domains" co-authored with Chris, Erik and David is accepted to present as a breaking news poster at the DNA 21 conference.
02-16: Boya starts working with Dr. David Soloveichik!!!

2014

08-25: Boya travels to the US and joins the Biochemistry program in UT-Austin.
06-21: Boya and other students who are going to study abroad in 2014Fall give a performance named "My Chinese Heart 我的中国心" to 8000 undergraduate students at the great graduation party "Tong Ge Tong Xing 同歌同行". (Link: 22:12~25:18)
